Mélange zones are divided based on their characteristics (dashed lines). The Cretaceous Shimanto belt and Tertiary Shimanto belt may be called the northern Shimanto belt and southern Shimanto belt, respectively. The Tei mélange is exposed at the Sumiyoshi beach.
